History

Dale W. Bricker founded Oakdale Nursery in 1977 after several years of apprenticeship under the expert guidance of Homer Heffelfinger of Richland, founder of Richland Nursery. Under his strict tutelage, Dale learned the proper way to hand prune trees and shrubs, the proper time to prune, the effective use of pesticides and the best placement of shrubs and trees according to their hardiness.

Dale is certified by the State of Pennsylvania in the application of pesticides and disease control. He keeps abreast of changing trends by reading landscape periodicals and attending garden and landscape trade shows. Dale also has a keen eye for how mother nature has graced us with her beauty and will incorporate that into his land and waterscapes.

Dale’s son Jason is a partner in Oakdale and has grown up in the business. Now an accomplished landscape artist in his own right, he is an integral part of Oakdale. Although Dale is very much a hands-on owner and enjoys getting his hands in the dirt, there are times his presence is needed elsewhere. At these times, Jason’s expertise and knowledge is invaluable. During all phases of landscaping our client’s homes or businesses, either Dale or Jason will be on the job site, so you will always be dealing with one of the owners.

Over the years Oakdale has gone through many changes, but through it all Oakdale has always prided itself in the fact that we have been able to change and broaden our services to ever serve our customers wants or needs.
